I’ve been known to say “yes” to things I end up regretting later.  The most recent thing is an Ironman 70.3 in Atlantic City on September 17, 2017.  The issue is I am not even close to being in shape for this race.  I signed up in December 2016 and did absolutely nothing to train for the first 4 months.  The issue was I didn’t have a swim buddy.

There is Accountability With a Swim Buddy

I signed up for the race with 3 other crazy people.  Initially, we were trying to do a facebook group and post our results.  There was really no accountability to execute.  Then, Rick Lapi and I decided we would work out together.  The results and frequency of our workouts has improved dramatically.  I’m pushing myself to go farther, faster and harder than I would normally do by myself. I have always been a person of action.  I am what Tim Grover, in his book Relentless: From Good to Great to Unstoppable, calls a “Cleaner”.  However, even the great Michael Jordan had a swim buddy.  You need someone by your side pushing you to go bigger, get more done, up your game. In business, and in sports, I’ve had my brother pushing me to go bigger, run faster, sell more, do more.  Now I have Tommy, and Jonathan B. Smith, plus a peer group we call the “Honey Badgers”.  They are always challenging me to be my best.

Don’t Miss Out on Rocket Fuel

As an EOS® Implementer, I teach my clients The Accountability Chart.  We discuss the special relationship between the Visionary and the Integrator as the lethal combination that takes businesses to the next level.  The reality is that one of the main reasons the Visionary and Integrator relationship is so lethal is the increased level of accountability.  Consequently, the combination of the Visionary/Integrator is extremely effective. If you don’t have an Integrator, go get one.  Go join the community on RocketFuel’s website.  Go get a swim buddy if you don’t have one already.  Your ability to execute on all your crazy ideas will go through the roof.  Your level of accountability and performance will take a big jump.  What are you waiting for?
